It’s Memorial Day. For those of you who don’t know the difference between this and Veterans Day, the New York Daily News has a helpful article about it, but basically, it’s a day dedicated to the memories of those who died in service to the country (versus Veterans Day, which celebrates ALL those who serve/served).

I never served. Sometimes I feel bad about that. I do sometimes wonder if mandatory conscription such as is done in Israel is a good practice, if it provokes a more engaged citizenry. There’s probably a lot of research on this. I should probably look into it.

In the meantime, though, I’ll just honor those who did serve and whose lives were given so that people like me can have the freedom to make dumb webcomics like this.
